1584 × 396 pixels. It’s a 4:1 strip, saved as a JPG or PNG under 8MB.
That’s the size for a personal profile, the “background photo” in LinkedIn’s own words. Company pages are different, and many of the guides you’ll find have the company size wrong.
1512 × 256 pixels, as a PNG or JPEG up to 3MB. LinkedIn’s help page gives 1512 × 256 as both the minimum and the recommended size.
You’ll still see 1128 × 191 and 4200 × 700 in older guides and templates. Those are out of date. A 4200 × 700 banner is 6:1, and LinkedIn’s cover is closer to 5.9:1, so the ends get trimmed by a sliver you didn’t choose.
The company logo is a square, 400 × 400 recommended and 268 × 268 at the least. It sits over the lower left of the cover.
Crop it before you upload it. LinkedIn lets you drag and zoom, but you do it in a small window, blind to where your profile photo will land.
The cropper at the top of this page does it properly. Pick “Profile banner”, add your picture, slide it until the right part shows and download it at 1584 × 396. Nothing is uploaded: it all happens in your browser.
Start from an image at least 1584 pixels wide. Anything smaller is stretched to fit and goes soft.
Your profile photo covers the lower left of the banner. Anything there is gone. Keep words and logos to the right.
Small text is the next trap. The banner is shown much smaller on a phone than on your laptop, so a line that reads fine at your desk turns to fuzz. Use a few big words or none.
And skip the stock skyline. A banner that shows your work, your team or your town tells a visitor something. A generic image tells them you didn’t think about it.
A profile photo can be anything from 400 × 400 up to 7680 × 4320, under 8MB, as a PNG or JPG. It’s shown as a circle, so keep your face in the middle.
Image posts work best at 1080 pixels wide, at any shape from 3:1 to 4:5, up to 5MB. Portrait (1080 × 1350) takes up the most room in the feed, and square (1080 × 1080) the next most. A post with several images takes 4:5 at the most.
A link shared from a page shows a 1200 × 627 image, and an article or newsletter cover is 1920 × 1080, cropped to 16:9. The table above has the full list.

1512 × 256 pixels, as a PNG or JPEG up to 3MB. LinkedIn's help page gives it as both the minimum and the recommended size; the 1128 × 191 and 4200 × 700 figures in older guides are out of date.
Pick "Profile banner" in the tool on this page, add your picture, drag it until the right part shows and download it at 1584 × 396. It runs in your browser, so the image is never uploaded.
Anything in the lower left, where your profile photo covers it; small text, which blurs on a phone; and an image under 1584 pixels wide, which LinkedIn stretches to fit.
At least 400 × 400 pixels and up to 7680 × 4320, under 8MB, as a PNG or JPG. It is shown as a circle.
