Local SEO in Ireland, What It Is, How Google Ranks Local Businesses and How to Do It

When a customer in Lisburn or Ballymena reaches for a phone, the name they land on should be yours. Our job is to have Google naming you three times over, on the map, in the ten results under it and in the answer it now writes at the top. What we charge sits on the site, so nothing about the money comes as a surprise. Antrim meetings happen at Market Square in the town.
Enter your website and we will uncover the opportunities hiding across search, advertising, content and conversion.
Tell us your goals and your website. We'll come back with the opportunities we find.
The firm taking the calls in your town is beating you on a finished Google profile, not on the work itself.
It happens here every day. Somebody in Newtownabbey wants what you sell, thumbs a few words into a phone, and back comes a screenful of Belfast firms with you well beneath them. The outfit on top has a profile with nothing left blank, a page for each separate job it does, and reviews still landing years after it opened.
None of that is hard to undo. Google gives a local search to whoever looks nearest and most finished, and in your own towns that can be you inside a year. We do the work, and the monthly report counts the enquiries it brought you rather than the positions it shifted.
Google is not weighing up who does the better job. It runs four checks. Is this the right sort of business, is it close by, is the door open now, and has anybody chosen it lately and left a name. Pass all four and the tap comes to you. Pass two and you are parked where nobody looks.
Nearness is the check County Antrim keeps losing. Belfast’s edge runs straight through Newtownabbey and Lisburn, so a city firm really is beside half the county’s customers, and its profile says as much. You might serve Ballymena and Larne far better, but a website that never prints those names hands Google nothing to work with, and the job goes to whoever printed them.

The rest is housekeeping nobody enjoys. A profile claimed in a hurry with the wrong category on it and most of the services missing. One page carrying every job you do, which leaves a particular search nowhere to land. Reviews that arrived in a rush at the opening and then dried up. A site that mentions the county and stops there, so Carrickfergus, Ballymoney and Ballycastle get handed elsewhere.
Antrim is the hardest county in the north for this, because whatever ranks in Belfast ranks here as well. The bare county term is a long haul because of it. The town searches are not, and the town searches are where your calls come from. Ballymena, Larne and Antrim town are inside a year’s reach for a business that finishes the job.
Picture the end of it. Somebody in Carrickfergus needs your trade, searches on a phone at the kitchen counter, and there you are. Pin at the top of the map with the number a press away, your page sitting under it, your name inside the answer Google has written over the lot. Then the phone goes, and the report tells you which words were typed to make it go.
Four jobs get you there and not one of them is clever. First the Google profile, every field filled and kept true, the right category, all the services typed in, photographs from this year, hours that match the door, and a service area shaped like the roads you drive. Second, every service gets its own page, which gives a single search somewhere exact to land. Third, reviews, asked for as work finishes and answered when they land. Fourth, one set of details wherever your name appears, from the UK directories and the trade registers to Ballymena Chamber.

Then the plumbing. A website that loads quickly on a phone at the side of the M2. Markup that names the business and the address behind each page. Writing that settles what a customer here wants to know before parting with money. Your buyers get Google’s UK results, so those are the results your work is measured in.
Where there is money in a search you are losing, you hear about that search by name, what taking it would involve and how long it should take. Nothing is kept back to justify another call.
Every bit of this can be checked without picking up a phone, which is the whole reason it is written out.
Bubblehub has been trading since 2013. Your campaign is planned and then worked by the same hands, so nobody has to chase the office for an account of what happened last month.
The rates are published, so an Antrim budget gets settled at your own desk instead of in a sales meeting. Enquiries are what the monthly report counts, because a spot on a screen has never covered a wage bill. And the reviews you see came off Google with a name attached, written by a business that pays an invoice.

There is a meeting address at Market Square in Antrim town, so nobody has to cross a border for a conversation about their own trade. County Louth holds the main office. Either address gets you the same people.
Above a great many searches Google now prints an answer of its own, with business names sitting inside it. Ask ChatGPT who to ring in Ballymena for a job and names come back there too. Neither of them picks blindly. Both take the evidence the map has always taken, a profile with nothing missing, reviews with fresh dates on them, and pages that state plainly what the business sells and to whom.
No separate product exists for it, whatever gets pitched at you. An answer written by Google is still a search result, won by the very same work. What it asks for on top is writing a machine can repeat without garbling it. Your prices, the hours you keep, the towns you drive to, and straight replies to whatever people settle in their heads before they commit.

Every Antrim campaign has it in already and none of them carry a charge for it. When that answer lists a couple of firms in your trade locally, the point is that one of those names is yours, and the report dates the month it began.
Send the form in, or ring. A working day later you have the searches this county makes in your line of work, your place on each, and the names standing above you. No charge, and nothing to put a signature to.
Say yes and the opening fortnight is spent taking stock. What Google already shows you for, what the website is breaking on, which directories still carry an old number, and what the firms ahead of you have finished that you have not.
Month two is the foundations. Profile completed, wrong listings put right one by one, the worst site faults cleared, a review request written into the way a job ends, and tracking fitted early so every call and form can be traced to a search. Then the pages themselves, a service at a time, biggest earner first.
Ninety days in, you ought to be turning up on the map wherever the search is made near your door, and each enquiry in the first report should carry the town and the words behind it. In Antrim the town terms move well ahead of the county one, and anything with Belfast in it moves last. A quarter with nothing in it gets written up as exactly that, and the plan changes rather than repeats.
Three different markets sit inside the one county and search behaves differently in each. Lisburn and Newtownabbey live on Belfast wages and search the way a city searches. Antrim town and Ballymena are trade and manufacturing, where a name people already know carries the sale. The coast from Carrickfergus round to Ballycastle lives on visitors who know no names at all.
Anything tied to a premises is settled by the map first. Barbers, salons, dentists, garages. Fresh reviews, photographs taken this year and hours that are actually right will beat a clever website every time. Where the choice is made on trust, a dentist or a physio, the page has to put names and faces to the work and say what a first appointment comes to.
Builders, joiners and electricians get picked by area instead. Print the towns you will drive to and the calls from those towns start. Hotels, guesthouses and restaurants along the coast are buying their own names back off the booking sites, which is done by dealing with what a visitor asks first and making it easier to book direct than to go around the houses. At Larne the port trade sells to other companies, fewer searches and much larger orders, so those pages have to show the work rather than shout about it.
Plenty of businesses should not buy it. Where work is needed inside the week, Google Ads does that job, and you will hear so from us rather than a proposal. If a few hundred a month is the ceiling, spend it finishing the profile yourself and talk to us when the figure grows. Everybody else in County Antrim has a town sitting there for the taking.
The rates sit on the site, so the money question is answered before anybody picks up a phone. They are in euro, the same figures every client of ours works from. Antrim lands in the middle of the bands. One town on its own is cheap to win. A trade out on the Belfast edge costs more, because the city's agencies are after the very same screens.
A business that takes its work from Ballymena, Antrim town, Larne or any single part of it.
A firm covering the county from Ballycastle to Lisburn, or a crowded trade on the city's edge.
An Antrim business selling past the county, online or into the trade.
Anything under about €400 a month buys upkeep and little else. If a trade cannot pay back the spend yet, you will be told so before anything is signed. The hours and pages inside each band are counted up in how much SEO costs in Ireland.
We heard about Bubblehub Media from a really satisfied client of theirs, and similarly our experience has been brilliant.
We recently worked with Bubblehub on building our new custom e-commerce website and are delighted with the result.
We've been using Sam and Dave at Bubble Hub for a few years now after switching from a previous provider who didn't even notice when a few of our sites got hacked.
Absolutely fantastic service every time from Bubblehub. I use them for all website needs, starting from initial web design, all the way to SEO and everything in between.
One town and the roads off it is an €800 to €1,500 a month job. That figure carries the profile work, a page for every service, the directory fixes, the review habit and the monthly report. Taking the county, or a trade fighting over the commuter towns, wants €1,500 to €3,500 a month, with how many towns go into it deciding the figure.
The map tends to move first, often inside the opening quarter, once the profile has no gaps and reviews are landing again. Pages written for one service take longer again, four to six months in most trades. The plain county term is the slowest thing on the list, which is why the towns get worked first here.
It is an advantage up that end of the county. Google answers with what is close to the person searching, so a Ballycastle business that states its ground properly takes the coast and the glens while everybody else fights over the commuter towns. The county term from that distance is slower, so it comes second in the plan.
Ads bring work next week and stop dead when the card is pulled. Search keeps paying long after the job is finished. Plenty of Antrim businesses run the two together for a few months, ads covering the leads while the map and the pages bed in, then wind the ads back. If the work has to land by Friday, ads are the honest answer.
For the searches your address and the ground you cover genuinely match, yes, and it is the quickest return on offer. It needs the profile finished, reviews still arriving, directories agreeing with one another and a site that repeats what the profile says. A fixed position is not something anybody can promise, since none of us owns Google.
Yes. Clients here are met at Market Square in Antrim town. The main office is over the border in County Louth, and the same people hold the campaign whichever address you use.
