What the midlands is looking for
Restaurants take 10,270 searches a month across Westmeath and hotels 8,880. Taxis run to 4,810, massage 3,290 and hairdressers 3,200. A lot of that is people passing through with money to spend, and they pick from the names the screen gives them.

Google Ads Keyword Planner volumes for Westmeath, Athlone and Mullingar, sourced through DataForSEO, averaged month by month to August 2026.
Westmeath is two counties wearing one name, and most businesses here are only winning half of it.
Athlone faces west and takes trade out of Roscommon. Mullingar faces east and loses it to Dublin. A search made in one of them has almost nothing to do with the other, and the business ahead of you in your own town is ahead for the dullest reasons. Its profile has no gaps, there is a page on its site for the exact job, and the reviews never stopped.
That is a gap you can close inside a year. Win your own town first and the other one afterwards, because there is no rule saying a Mullingar business cannot take Athlone searches once it says so properly. We do the work. The calls are yours. The monthly figure you see is enquiries and the searches that produced them.
Google cannot rate your work. It rates the evidence. What does this business do. How near is it to the person searching. Is it open. Have real people chosen it recently. Four answers puts you in the map. Two answers puts you underneath, where the traffic thins out fast.
Almost every business here has two. The profile was claimed and abandoned, so the category is off and half the services never got typed in. One page is doing the work of six. The reviews arrived in the first year and stopped. And the website names one town, usually the one the premises is in, which hands Moate, Kinnegad, Kilbeggan and Castlepollard to whoever wrote those names down.

There is a Westmeath twist as well. Athlone searches are contested by businesses on the Roscommon side of the bridge, and Mullingar searches by businesses out of Dublin and Kildare. Neither of those groups can be nearer to your customer than you are. That advantage is only worth something if Google can see it, and Google can only see it if somebody has written it down.
The outcome first. Somebody in Athlone or Mullingar wants what you sell, types it, and the name in front of them is yours. Up in the map, a number to press. In the list underneath. And inside the answer Google writes over both. Then the phone goes, and the month end report points at the search that made it go.
It takes four jobs. The Google profile completed to the last field, correct category, all services entered, photographs from this year, hours that survive a long weekend, and every town you cover entered. A page for every service instead of one page for all of them, each written for a stranger. Reviews asked for steadily and answered. And every listing that carries your details saying an identical thing, through the directories, the trade registers, Athlone Chamber, Mullingar Chamber and Local Enterprise Office Westmeath.

Beneath that, the unseen work. A site that loads before somebody gives up on it. Mark-up so the business, the address and the hours are beyond doubt. Prices, areas and times as text rather than a photograph of a menu. Writing that answers what a Westmeath customer wants settled first. And where a search is worth money and you do not appear, you are told the search, the work, and the likely timescale.
Everything here can be checked without a meeting. There is a published price list, so you know the shape of the spend in advance. The report each month is a count of enquiries with the search beside each one, because a position has never paid for a delivery. The reviews shown are Google reviews, and the businesses that wrote them are named. And Westmeath clients are seen on Dominick Street in Mullingar.
Bubblehub started up in 2013. You deal with the people doing the work from the first meeting onwards, so the plan never gets handed to somebody who was not there when it was made.

Head office is over in County Louth, a straight run across, and it makes no difference to the campaign because the same hands stay on it either way.
Ask Google for the best hotel in Athlone and an answer appears over the results with hotels named in it. Ask ChatGPT and you get names as well. Neither is inventing anything. Both draw on what the map has always drawn on. A profile with every box answered. Reviews with dates from this year. Pages saying plainly what is sold and to whom. An answer of that sort is a search result in another shape, and the same work wins both.
Nothing extra is on sale here. It falls out of those same four jobs, and out of writing that a machine can repeat without mangling it. Prices, hours, the places you travel to, and plain answers to what people want to know before booking.

Every Westmeath campaign includes it and nobody is billed for it separately. When the answer at the top offers three names in your trade, yours should be one of the three, and the report flags the month it begins.
Use the form, or ring. Inside a working day you get what Westmeath types when it wants your trade, the volume on each, where you show up today and who shows up above you. No charge, and it remains useful whoever ends up doing the work.
Agree to it and the first two weeks go on measurement. Search Console for what you already appear on, a crawl for the faults, a sweep of every listing with your details on it, and a proper look at what the businesses above you have done.
The following month is groundwork. Profile completed, listings corrected, technical faults taken in order of damage, and a review request built into how a job finishes. Tracking is fitted before anything else, so the starting point is honest. Then the pages, service by service, the profitable ones first, and one for each town that sends you business.
At the three month mark the map around your own address should have shifted, and each enquiry in the report should carry the search and the town that produced it. Around here the two town searches move first, Athlone and Mullingar separately, and the county term lags well behind. If three months pass with nothing in it, the report says so and the plan gets rebuilt.
For a county this size the numbers are large. Restaurants take 10,270 searches a month, hotels 8,880, taxis 4,810, massage 3,290, hairdressers 3,200, pharmacies 2,780, gyms 2,190, takeaways 1,760, barbers 1,720 and furniture shops 1,490. Much of that is passing trade, people stopping off the motorway and people over for a match or a weekend.
A hotel on 8,880 is competing with the booking sites for its own name, so the direct booking has to be the easiest one to find, and the questions a guest asks have to be answered before they are asked. A restaurant on 10,270 is chosen on photographs from this year, on reviews from last month, and on hours that are accurate on a Sunday in August.
Taxis on 4,810 is a number driven by nights out and early flights, and it goes to whoever has a number that can be pressed without reading anything first. Pharmacies on 2,780 and hairdressers on 3,200 are decided inside the map, on distance and on recent reviews. Massage on 3,290 is a trust purchase, so the names, the training and the price of a first session belong on the page. Furniture shops on 1,490 are judged against the Dublin retail parks, so what is in stock, how far you deliver and when the doors open all have to be on the screen straight away.
It will not suit everyone. If the money has to come back inside this quarter, ads are the only honest answer and we will tell you that. If the website is a single page that has not been touched in years, fix that before paying anybody a retainer. For everyone else here, two towns are winnable and most businesses are not trying for either.
The figures are here so that nobody has to ring first. Westmeath sits between the two extremes. Athlone and Mullingar are both fought over in food, in accommodation and in the everyday trades, and the smaller towns take far less work to win.

Under about €400 a month the work is upkeep and nothing else. Every band is broken into hours, pages and links by how much SEO costs in Ireland, if you want the arithmetic. Where the spend is ahead of the trade, you hear it before anything is agreed.

We've been using Sam and Dave at Bubble Hub for a few years now after switching from a previous provider who didn't even notice when a few of our sites got hacked.
Absolutely fantastic service every time from Bubblehub. I use them for all website needs, starting from initial web design, all the way to SEO and everything in between.
From the outset of my dealings with Bubblehub I was struck by their professionalism, flexibility and dedication.
One trade in Athlone or Mullingar runs €800 to €1,500 a month. That buys the profile finished off, one page per service, the listings straightened out, a review routine and a monthly count of enquiries. Working both towns and the country between them means a budget of €1,500 to €3,500 a month. Both towns are contested and the rest of the county is not, which is why Westmeath lands mid table.
Map positions near your own door usually shift within three months, once the profile is finished and the reviews start again. Pages take longer, generally into the second quarter before they hold. Slowest of the lot is the bare county term, and the town terms arrive well ahead of it. A blank quarter is written up as a blank quarter, and the plan is redone.
For north Westmeath searches it counts for you. Google puts distance high on the list, so a business naming Castlepollard, Delvin and Collinstown takes that corner while Athlone and Mullingar fight over themselves. The plain county term is a slower job from up there, so the towns come first.
Ads deliver while the card is live and stop when it is not. Search keeps delivering long afterwards. Plenty of businesses in Athlone and Mullingar run both at the beginning, with ads holding the enquiries up until the map and the pages take over, then reduce the ad spend. If the tables have to fill this weekend, run the ads.
For whatever your address genuinely covers, yes, and that is the first money to land. It needs a finished profile, reviews arriving regularly, listings that say one consistent thing and a site that matches. Nobody can guarantee a fixed slot and you should be wary of anyone who says they can. You are buying work, and a monthly account of whether it turned into calls.
Westmeath clients are met on Dominick Street in Mullingar. Head office is in County Louth. Whoever sits across from you is the one running the campaign, so nothing has to be repeated to a second face.
