How it is designed

Home, about, contact and one for each service. Blog posts and product pages are not counted here.

Who writes the words?

Words written for search and for selling are a separate job from design, and priced by the page.

The estimate already includes a contact form, a blog and basic search set-up. Pick anything more.

Get a fixed price from us

This website cost calculator prices a new site line by line, from what web designers and agencies actually publish. We read the price lists of 23 Irish and 28 UK providers in September 2026, plus published rates for copywriting, photography, video and add-ons. Pick what you’re building, how it’s designed and what it needs. The estimate updates as you go.

It’s a budget guide, not a quote. The lows are mostly “from” prices, so treat them as floors. Want the full breakdown and a brief you can send to any designer? Use the button under the estimate. For the wider picture, our guide to how much a website costs in Ireland goes through every level.

What Irish web designers charge, by level

It depends on who builds it more than anything else. Here’s what Irish providers publish for the three levels the calculator uses, before VAT.

What you’re building Template, set up for you Custom design Bespoke agency build
Business website, about 5 pages €400 to €1,000 €1,500 to €4,000 €6,000 to €12,000
Online shop €900 to €2,500 €3,000 to €7,500 €8,000 to €20,000
Landing page €250 to €750 €750 to €2,000 €2,000 to €4,500

Each extra page adds roughly €40 to €135 at the template end and €150 to €400 for a custom design. VAT at 23% goes on top of all of it.

What UK web designers charge, by level

The same three levels, in sterling, from what UK designers and agencies publish.

What you’re building Template, set up for you Custom design Bespoke agency build
Business website, about 5 pages £300 to £900 £1,500 to £4,000 £6,000 to £15,000
Online shop £700 to £2,000 £2,500 to £7,500 £8,000 to £20,000
Landing page £150 to £500 £500 to £1,500 £1,500 to £4,000

Switch the calculator to sterling and it uses UK rates throughout, with VAT at 20%.

What pushes the price of a website up?

Pages, words and features. The design is only part of the bill.

Words are the one people forget. A copywriter charges €100 to €300 a page in Ireland and £200 to £600 in the UK. That’s a real cost. It’s also where a site wins or loses the enquiry.

Add-on, custom design level Ireland UK
Online booking €300 to €1,000 £300 to £1,000
Taking payments or deposits €300 to €800 £200 to £800
Members area or client login €500 to €1,500 £500 to £1,500
CRM or email marketing link €300 to €1,000 £300 to £800
A second language €500 to €1,500 £500 to £1,500
SEO set-up at launch €500 to €2,000 £400 to £2,000
Photography, half a day €450 to €950 £400 to £750
A short promotional video €1,500 to €4,000 £1,500 to £3,500
Logo and brand identity €2,000 to €3,500 £2,000 to £6,000

Shops have two more. Someone has to add every product, with its photos, description, price and stock. And past about a hundred products, the catalogue needs proper categories and filters. The calculator prices both when you choose an online shop.

Running costs after launch

Less than the build, but it never stops. Hosting, security updates and backups for a small business site run from about €25 to €80 a month in Ireland. Online shops cost more to look after.

Our own plans are €24.99, €59.99 and €99.99 a month, and the calculator suggests the one that fits your site. In sterling it shows the range UK designers publish instead. Then add whatever your features run on: a booking system typically costs €15 to €80 a month of its own.

The first-year figure in the calculator puts the build and twelve months of care together. It’s the number to hold your budget to.

How long the build takes

A template site can be live in a week or two. A custom business site takes 3 to 6 weeks, and an agency build or a large shop takes 6 to 16.

What usually holds a site up isn’t the build. It’s waiting for words and photos. Have yours ready, or budget for a copywriter, and the timeline gets shorter.

How to compare website quotes

Send every designer the same brief. It sounds obvious. Few people do it.

One quote includes copywriting and the next doesn’t. One sets up your Google Business Profile and another leaves it out. Then the cheapest quote looks cheapest only because it skipped the hard parts.

The brief this calculator emails you lists your pages, features, words and photos, with eight questions a good designer will ask anyway. Answer them before you send it and every quote comes back for the same job. Our guide to choosing a web designer has the questions to ask on the call.

How this website cost calculator works

Every line is a low and a high, taken from the spread of published prices for that piece of work. The calculator adds the lines you choose, rounds the totals to the nearest 50 and shows VAT separately. The build estimate includes a contact form, a blog and basic search set-up. It doesn’t include your domain name, email accounts or the subscriptions your features need.

The same site is also priced at the other two levels, so you can see what moving up or down a level would change. None of this is our price list. When you want a fixed price for your own project, that’s the part we do.

A website is judged by what it converts, not by what it wins.

Client results, measured in the numbers the business cares about.

Questions people ask.

How much should I pay to have a website built?

For a small business site of about five pages, Irish web designers publish prices from roughly €400 to €1,000 for a template set up for you, €1,500 to €4,000 for a custom design from a small studio, and €6,000 and up from an established agency, all before VAT. In the UK the same three levels start at about £300, £1,500 and £6,000. The calculator adds your pages, words, photos and features on top.

How much is a fair price for a website?

One that matches the work in it. A €500 site and a €5,000 site can both be fair: the first is a template filled with your content, the second is planned and designed around your customers. A price stops being fair when it quietly leaves out something you need, so compare quotes line by line. The estimate you can email yourself here lists every line.

How much does a website cost per month?

Hosting, updates, security and backups for a small business site run from about €25 to €80 a month in Ireland, and more for an online shop. Ours are €24.99, €59.99 and €99.99 a month. Add the software your features rely on: a booking system, for example, typically costs €15 to €80 a month on its own.

How long does it take to build a website?

Published timeframes run from about a week for a template site, to 3 to 6 weeks for a custom business site, to 6 to 16 weeks for an agency build or a large shop. The usual delay is waiting for words and photos, which is why the calculator adds time when a copywriter writes every page.

Why do website quotes vary so much?

Because the same list of pages can be three different jobs. A template set up for you, a site designed around your customers and an agency project with research behind it all produce "an eight-page website". That is why published prices for a five-page site in Ireland run from under €500 to over €6,000. Ask each designer what the price includes, line by line.

Can I get a grant for a website in Ireland?

Not the way you once could. The Trading Online Voucher closed in December 2024. The Grow Digital Voucher from the Local Enterprise Offices is a 50% grant, from €500 to €5,000, towards new software, and its guidance says it does not support bespoke website development. Check the current rules with your Local Enterprise Office before you plan around either.

Is this estimate a quote?

No. It is built from the prices web designers and agencies publish, and your real price depends on what the site has to do, which a calculator cannot see. Email yourself the estimate and brief, send the brief to the designers you are talking to, and every quote you get back will be for the same job. If you want ours, reply to that email.
